Dogs have always fascinated me—their personalities, their quirks, the way they learn and connect with people. At Influential K9, I believe every dog is an individual, and understanding their unique psychology and physiology is at the heart of what I do.
My path to professional dog training started in a pretty simple way: working with dogs through pet sitting and walking on Rover, and hands-on experience at kennels and doggie daycares. That early work quickly grew into a full-blown passion, and before long, I launched my own business—first as Heather Feeney's Colorful Companions, LLC, and now as Influential K9, LLC. For the last several years, I've worked hands-on with hundreds of dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments. Each dog has taught me something new, and I never stop learning.
I'm deeply involved in the dog sport community and am an active member of both the Windham County Kennel Club, Inc. and the Pilgrim Doberman Pinscher Club, Inc.—always looking for new ways to challenge myself and my dogs.
My background goes beyond experience in the field. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology with a focus on Applied Behavior Analysis, earned while serving in the military. This academic foundation means I understand not just what works, but why it works—how dogs (and people) think, learn, and grow. Clear communication, consistency, and respect are the backbone of my training.
I’m dedicated to continuing education, always seeking out the best courses and certifications to stay at the top of my game:
2025: AKC FIT DOG Level 1-3 (AKC Canine College), Certified Canine Fitness Coach (CCGC), AKC CGC Evaluator, Method K9 Institute Level 1-3 Certifications, Method K9 Premium Courses (Basic & Intermediate Foundation, E-Collar for Off-Leash Reliability)
2023-2024: Aggression in Dogs Master Course
2023: Master of Science in Psychology, focus in Applied Behavior Analysis
If you’re looking for a trainer who meets your dog where they are, brings both knowledge and heart to every session, and never stops learning, you’re in the right place. I can’t wait to help you and your dog build a stronger, happier partnership.
